Jane Fonda Partners with Meta for Nostalgic VR Workout Series
The award-winning actress and fitness celebrity is bringing her upbeat cardio sessions to virtual reality
Over 17 million people watched Jane Fonda don a leotard and leg warmers to host her iconic VHS workout series from 1982 to 1995, which became the first non-theatrical home video to top sales charts. Now, Fonda is partnering with Supernatural, Meta Quest’s Virtual Reality fitness program, to bring her beloved instructional videos to 2024.
Paying homage to her best-selling at-home VHS workout videos, Fonda and Meta have created a four-part fitness series titled Jane Fonda’s Workout, which will be available for purchase on Christmas Day.
Rapper and close Fonda friend Ludacris will be featured in one of the four sections.
The series includes the retro fitness program Flow with Jane Fonda, Box with Jane Fonda & Ludacris, group exercise experience Jane Fonda: Team Workout and recovery session Jane Fonda: Stretch, giving users multiple options for their workout flow.
In Jane Fonda’s Workout, Fonda has personally selected her own music, environments, and choreography inspired by her 1980s and 1990s VHS tapes.
“It’s a full circle moment,” wrote Ludacris in a post on Instagram. “Growing up, I’d watch my mother sweat it out to @JaneFonda’s iconic VHS workout tapes. Now, I’m beyond honored to collaborate with the fitness icon herself in an all-new workout series for @getsupernatural on @metaquest.”
Supernatural, a fitness app available on Meta Quest virtual reality headsets, allows users to participate in full-body cardio workouts in virtual environments with engaging music and visuals. The app offers boxing and flow workouts with varied intensity levels, as well as stretching and meditation sessions led by personal trainers.
